Every once in awhile someone asks me why I have such an interest in Health. Well, it started about 10 years ago. Several people in our community were suffering from cancer. But two in particular were able to reverse their diagnosis by getting treatment at a center that had a Holistic approach to healing.
After taking a short class from one of these persons on how she had changed her eating habits, I felt the need to start making improvements in my diet as well. I didn't think that we had an unhealthy lifestyle but I could see that we definitely weren't eating 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. The one vegetable with dinner wasn't cutting it!!
The most important thing I learned from her training was this: Change one thing at a time. Changing everything all at once is too overwhelming and will probably lead to failure. As I look back over the last 10 years and see the incremental changes that I've made, I know for sure I couldn't have done it all at once.
In 2001, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Fortunately, our family was blessed. Removing the cancerous tissue was sufficient treatment and she has been cancer free since then. Nonetheless, this was a trying time, to think that we might lose our mother. We continued to make changes to our diet. One importan
One important thing I learned at that time was that preparing good wholesome foods for our families is a labor of love. It might take more time, but it is worth it to make sure there are healthy foods available for our families -- and ourselves!! We can't take care of our loved ones if we aren't well ourselves.
Since then, a friend developed a passion for Essential oils and shared them with me. I found it fascinating that different plants provided oils that would aid in various healing processes, whether it was back pain or pneumonia.
Currently I am studying with master aromatherapist Alexandria Brighton, with the goal of getting my international aromatherapist certification. During this process, I want to use this blog to share with others some of the things I have learned -- about essential oils, diet and nutrition.
What is the the real answer to Why I'm a Health nut?
I love to feel good and I want others to feel good too...naturally and by changing one thing at a time!
I look forward to sharing this journey with you all...together!!
